As someone working within the industry I can tell you that an Airbus A320 crashed at the Paris Airshow some years ago due to FADEC authority.
Airbus was the first company to use "fly by wire" computer controlled commercial aircraft and the crash was a result of the software protocols not being fully tested..
The pilot knew he was going to crash but could not override the computer. This has now of course changed and the pilot has ultimate authority.
