![]() Well we made it. We've crossed over that whole exillerating experience of being the new faceless one on the block and we've slowly been moved back to where we now stand covered in dust at the bottom of that chest you remember from when you were a kid.
Well hopefully now that far back.. but just to give everyone an update for those that still venture into this here forum every once in a while... RET is very much alive, and very much working towards all of the prospective directions that were first laid out upon its day of creation. We have a wide range of projects up and coming that are being worked on. Unfortunately these things take time. You see, the hardest part about being the new kid on the block, is struggling against that ever looming uncertainty in the eyes of your beholders. Since the beginning we, in RET, have been working towards large projects.. but as you can see we've also been releasing some small shit along the way. We in no way plan on only releasing small things however, but rather, we are releasing these things to keep people interested in the site long enough for production of the larger things. Beyond these releases though.. is this forum. The whole direction and philosophy behind RET is that this forum in coming years (we hope) will flourish into what will become somewhat of a hub to the reversing community. A place where people commonly come to share their thoughts, information, and troubles. And a place where knowledge is the price of admission. As you grow you are able to recieve more from your experiences within this site. Unfortunately this is not however something that just happens over night. It takes a lot of dedication and more precisely _motivation_ from the community and the group. With everyone's help this can happen, but we'll need to work for it. Now, for present projects. RET should have some more small things coming out in the near future to tie us over and hopefully bring some enlightenment to a few out there. But it will probably be another month before we can bring out the big stuff.. so hang in there. And let us know your comments on this site. What projects you can suggest etc. theres a whole world of knowledge out there, under every stone, and within every new terrain. Devine Right [RET] |

![]() real life wants lot of time! However there are periods of most and less activity, the important thing is never think its over!
Comments: well no comment, site is great, i like reversing, so the site only needs to be filled with tons of infos!! Porjects: from a bit time i am dealing with kernel reversing (i'm working on XP - ntoskrnl module), i wrote the pseudo-C code of internal function MmAccessFault, MiCheckVirtualAddress, MiCheckSystemPteProtection and i am proceeding in traducing other functions related to the memory manager. My idea was to make a tutorial on memory faults handling by following and commentig line by line the kernel, so it maybe a great project, traducing and fully commenting windows nt/2k/xp internals! What do you think? I was also thinking about making source-to-source compare of windows and linux kernel entities, but this is beyond reversing! Other easier project: a PE-hex editor. Its in my todo list from a long time! Its a PE editor that has an hex-ascii view like an hex editor, and at side there is a tree control, the tree is the structure of the PE, so choosing the PE fields, corresponding bytes in hex dump will highlit. So you can access all pe components (included IT, section table, etc etc) simply by walking the tree! It is really useful when you deal with unpacking, that is, it is the tool I would like to have when unpaking! Let me know your opinions Bye!!! AndreaGeddon |

![]() Yes actually those are some very good ideas. We are actually already developing a project which is an Hiew Win32 type clone or at least somewhat similar in that it'll have all the functionliaty of hiew. But these ideas would be very interesting to incorporate. Send a mail to ret@ret.mine.nu and we'll talk about it some more. I think a lot of the tools that we build can be combined within 1 interface.. for example I have a tool almost done in development now that is somewhat of a very advanced text editor.. I've slowly been dabbling at it. But including that functionliaty in this would again add to it.. Another thing is adding debugging ability to the asm view of the app.. and additional ability again would be adding the ability to disassemble and step through extended file formats.. like Class files, and inx file formats.. all things in the future
