Default Barcodes

i used to work ones at supermarket..giving me free access for scanners,
reading barcodes essays [orc's old one] really got me interested..
understanding barcode's ean-13 check sum is nothing to be facinated from, but when u come with a piece of plain paper where u print at home [using ur own program/freeware] to the super and scan it [gun scanner] and actually works, u get a green lightbolt above ur head =)
although i was only testing the scannners, i didn't went trew the actuall buying system, but this is a good way to buy higher items at lower prices..
i am pretty sure they wont notice u put other barcodes on the item =)

just depends on the scam. (also check bengaly's tut he did a barcode one as well) u can't buy a nice new grill for the price of a .99 stick of gum :/ it has to be believable like a different model/make or something and a very dumb (high) clerk that checks you out. also need the stores type of barcode system as there is plenty of other standards besides ean-13
so what is your question btw?

hehe what would be real ingenious is use one of those price label things that scans/sets barcode's on the pos system if you could figure out some way to hack that now that'd be a good one cuz u could set the price for the barcode to a different one instead of it having to be changed. also let other people checkout with deals too

Problem with that is that the barcode corresponds to a certain product in their database, and its name will show on the cash register. I'm affraid no cashier will let you get away with buying a 20EUR pack of steaks that on scanning registers as a 50 cent 'tomato'.. For example
The name and prices are both looked up at the same time from the barcode.. Not much room to mess with there.. Of course you can for example try to buy a very expensive wine for a cheapass one.. And hope they wont notice a different name (or just have it in the system as 'red wine' for example )

Just an idea....

well you can program the description if you can get in there and change the price. so u could just put steak promotion %1.99

P.S. if you are dumb enough to try to pass off a steak or a piece of meat as a tomato in the description and purposely change this u got alot of problems
