16 Bit Software.

I need to get Licence Key of an old 16bit program called Superstock that I need to reinstall. It is software used to control Tills in a shop. The company that provided the software are gone out of Business and I usually would ring them with an authorization code and then in return they would give me the authorization number. The code is a 4 digit code and each time you click register it generates a new 4 digit code. If you input a wrong Authorization Number it does not give an error. I still have the registered software running on the corrupt machine so I can compare files if needed. I have a fresh install setup on a different pc so that I can try register it. I have been reading some threads but all are for 32 bit programs and a lot of the tools dont work with 16 bit programs. Any help would be great. I would need full instructions as i never done any reverse engineering before.
